About Me

My photo
I like food, walks, cuddles, more food, the seaside, other dogs, food, my frisbee and destroying things. Most of all I love My People and lots of lovely attention. Some say I'm spoiled. I say I get treated as I should be ;) I'm a healthy happy eight year old. The only thing wrong with me (God willing) is epilepsy which costs my owners lots of money and means I have to eat yukky tablets but otherwise seems to bother them more than it bothers me because they remember my fits and I don't. Other than that, I'm a happy lad and I love my people and I'm lucky to live in a place where there are nice walks. I wouldn't want to live in a town.

Wimbledon Weather

Hello everyone

Last week my Mummy had a week off and the weather was warm and sunny so we didn’t want to come upstairs to the stuffy computer. Auntie is working from home now and she is up here all the time and the room gets hotter and hotter and hotter so it is like a sauna (Mummy says) in the evening so we don’t go there. Today, however, Wimbledon started so naturally it has cooled down and rained so it is alright to come up here!

It was lovely having my Mummy home though it is very confusing that Auntie no longer goes out to work, she just disappears up here for hours on end and talks to people on the telephone instead. On Tuesday, Mummy and Auntie Angie went out to the spa – they were gone for ages but they came back looking very happy and relaxed and then Mummy was in a very good mood, especially as England did OK at the football that night.

I was a lucky boy last week. One day, I went for a walk with Troy and Emily. I kept having words with Troy and Mummy kept telling me to leave him, Usually, ‘leave’ doesn’t last long as she says it and keeps me by her while other dogs walk past, but this time she wanted me to keep on leaving Troy and not chase him away from my Emily. I didn’t like that and kept trying to go back to him so she put me on the lead, which wasn’t fair. Mummy said to Auntie Raye how it’s a shame that Emily doesn’t play with me any more and the next day, Raye decided that just her and Emily could have a walk with me as it would be a treat for Emily (and for me!!) and that was lovely – we had a little play and plodded along together (like an old married couple Mummy says) while Mummy and Raye talked about Big Brother. That made me happy.

We had a nice weekend, sitting in the sun. Yesterday, we met the posh people from the big house. They had lost their dog so Mummy said she would call them if we saw him but then they all spotted him on the horizon so we didn’t have to worry. My Mummy and Auntie always try to help people if they can…

Mummy has been fretting about my wobbly legs so she and Auntie rang Mike the Vet today and he said I can reduce my tablets to the old level so hopefully I will get my legs back soon.

Today I joined up with Buster the Collie and Little Bruce the Staffie for half my walk and we had lots of fun chasing each other. I tried to teach Little Bruce how to paddle in a stinky pond but he didn’t want to do it. When Mummy slipped over, climbing out of a ditch, all three of us dogs went to help her which she thought was lovely.

Tomorrow, Mummy is taking one more day off while Auntie goes on one of her trips then she is back to work properly. She was all smiley before she went back there but she has found her frown again now. That’s a shame…

I hope you are all keeping well,

Regards to all my friends

Happy Birthday Mummy

We have had an eventful few days. On Thursday evening, Auntie baked a cake to take to work and Mummy bought some cakes to take to hers and nobody bought me a cake so it wasn’t fair. On Friday, Mummy had quite a nice day at work though she said it was very hot and very heavy, and Auntie was a bit emotional because it was her last day. In the evening, Mummy walked me to the vet and I had my yearly injection and the nice locum lady vet (called Ruth) looked at my sore eye and gave me some eye drops – only after she put some stuff in my eye that made it go bright green and gave me bright green tears and bright green…erm…nose moisture (!) so Mummy said I looked like a werewolf and Ruth said I was a radioactive werewolf! I didn’t appreciate that!

My people also spoke to Ruth about my wobbly back legs which I have had since my tablets were put up and which I don’t like very much because I keep falling over and I can’t do stairs. Ruth said to give it a bit more time and talk to Mike the vet in a week or so. Mummy says I can’t carry on like this because it isn’t fair on such a young dog so we will see what happens.

Auntie and Mummy and I all walked home across the fields and we were very tired so they had pizza (they tried a new one called Pizza Del Sol and I tried some too and it was lovely) and we all went to sleep.

Mummy got up early yesterday and walked me and she had Auntie and I all had a nice day. It was Mummy’s birthday so she had presents and she and Auntie went out in the evening and Auntie Angie came round here and looked after me and I was a good boy for her and no trouble. Uncle Ricky was meant to go with them but he was late back from his holiday so Mummy let him off. Now she wants to go out again soon so he can come with them which isn’t fair. I don’t like it when my people leave me if they don’t have to.

Today, Uncle Ricky came over and he and Auntie talked about the work situation and he gave Mummy her birthday card (her present is on order because he couldn’t find what she wanted in Slovakia as there was nowhere to buy it from!) and then they looked at his holiday photos. Mummy says she really misses going to Greece, more and more these days but her and Auntie will never leave me so they won’t go while I’m still here – and they told me today that I have to live forever and never leave them so I will try to do that!

When Uncle Benjamin died, Mummy bought a rose plant to put on his grave but it kept raining and raining and she never planted it. She put the plant out in the garden over the winter and thought it would die but in the spring, the plant started to grow so she put it in the garden in my run. Now it grows – I have killed all the other plants in that garden but Uncle Benjamin’s rose still grows and when my people have a birthday or a special day or a very stressful time, the rose bush always grows a beautiful yellow rose. Mummy says that uncle Benjamin sends it – the rose bloomed for her birthday and it smells beautiful and she is pleased.

Tomorrow, Auntie goes to Northampton to find out about a temporary job which she can mostly do from home but sometimes she will have to go up there for a day. Mummy says that if this becomes a career, we could move up there. That would be an adventure!

We have had a nice sunbathe today and now Auntie is making a treat sausage pie – if I play my cards right, I might get some. Sausage is my favourite thing ever!!!

Tomorrow, Mummy’s friend Tracy the Tree Hugger is coming round. She might even be a new Auntie, you never know…

Oh just heard she isn't well and isn't coming. Get better soon Tracey, hope you canc ome over leater in the week.

Regards to all my friends

Warming Up again

Hello again

It’s still cooler so I can bear to be near the computer – not so sure about the next few days though as it is supposed to get hot again.

I have been having a lovely time during the hot weather as I have been going round to Auntie Angie’s and spending time in her shady garden. The children like to play with me and I like to be with them – even when little Lauren puts her hat on me! She means well – she is protecting me from the sun! She gives me cuddles and I try hard to be gentle and not to knock her over and I even take my ball gently from her hand and offer my ball to little Ella – I won’t give it to the grown ups though!

I am still improving around strange dogs but I still moo at dogs I know who I have always mooed at – Mummy doesn’t want me to but it is hard to break the habit.

Mummy has next week off but Auntie won’t be spending it holidaying with her at home as Auntie is going to be working from home for a while, which will be very strange. Her ‘real’ job ends tomorrow but she is doing some freelance work for a while and will have to go away sometimes (booo) but Mummy says I will be ok here with her and I can go round to Auntie Angie’s if she is late home any day so that will be nice. I am very good at helping her to clear up if the girls drop their food and she says that I am better than any hoover!

Well I am off for now as Mummy says I am late for my tablets. Auntie is cooking a cake for her last day, but Mummy has bought some cakes to take to her work because it is her birthday at the weekend.

Where’s the Brucie cake, that’s what I want to know…

Regards to all my friends

I'm back!

Evening all!

At last the weather has cooled down so I thought its safe to hop on the computer to post without sweating too much! I hope everyone has been ok while I was on my little break.
I have had a nice day today. The weather has been bothering me in one way or another over the last while. Its either been boiling hot, raining or storming and I'm not keen of any of those! Today has been a nice cool but bright day so I am happy.
This afternoon Mummy, Auntie and I all sat with Auntie Angie and her two little girls in the garden. I was playing fetch with them and we had a lovely time. I was careful with them as they are only little and I listened to them when they yelled FETCH over and over again!

Well, I had better go, my bouncy ball is calling me!

Take care, Bruce

Summer Holiday

Evening everyone,

Auntie here again! Bruce has asked me to say hi to everyone for him, he is taking a little break from blogging as the weather has turned hot all of a sudden and the computer makes the house too warm. He is also missing his evening slot as it is too warm for his walk in the day so he and Mummy are walking in the evenings. Bruce says he will be back in a few days when it has cooled down and he hopes everyone is enjoying the weather.

Take care, love from Bruce and Auntie xxxxx

Hi all,

Auntie here! Brucie has asked me to guest this evening as he feels the need to cuddle Mummy for a while.
This afternoon while I was at work Mummy took Brucie for his walk. When they set out is was a lovely sunny afternoon, strappy top weather if you know what I mean, but before long a nasty thunderstorm crept up on them and soaked them both through. Poor Brucie is scared of thunderstorms, he has been ever since we both got caught in a really bad one when he was a baby. He is not happy this afternoon, apart from eating his dinner he has slept all afternoon poor love. I will go downstairs now and see if he want to play, that should cheer him up!

Take care,

Auntie x

I Love My Frisbee

Hello

Auntie and I had a nice play this morning and Mummy came home at a decent hour. She thought she was going to make me wait until the evening before we went for a walk but I persuaded her otherwise! She kept hanging about – she did the washing up and made a phone call so I whinged at her because I needed to poo. Not long before we left, a lady came to the door with some flowers for Auntie so Mummy asked her to take them round to her workplace then laughed down the phone at her when she got them and had a little cry! The flowers were from Auntie Claire (the recent bride) and that was very kind of her – they are to cheer Auntie up because she is losing her job.

We saw Jet over the fields and little Bruce the Staffy who sniffed my bum so I mooed at him and our people laughed at me so I harrumphed. I talked Mummy into giving me a full walk because there was a cool breeze so even though it was very sunny, she was ok. She had to wear flip flops because I trod on her before we left the house and my claw made a hole in her heel. I didn’t mean to…I am very clumsy on these extra tablets and my feet don’t always go where I want them to. Mummy is going to speak to Mike the vet about it if it doesn’t improve, I think…

This evening Auntie Claire came round and her and Auntie laughed a lot and I gave her a cuddle. I like my Auntie Claire...

I am very tired as you can see from the picture so I am going to have one more play with my pink Frisbee then have some grub and go to bed

Regards to all

In And Out

Hello. I was a lucky boy this morning as I saw Troy and Emily again. I walked around with Troy mostly while Emily did her own thing. Troy is my new little mate. I like him.

I have a funny head today – Mummy says that if my tablets hadn’t been upped, she thinks I would be having a fit around now ‘cos I always act funny like this when I’m going to fit. I keep going all vague and don’t always understand what my people are asking me to do, and I have got very clumsy – I am a bit wobbly on my back legs because I am so sedated now and also I walked into a fencepost the other day (which was embarrassing!). Mummy says it is interesting that I forgot how to jump over a style earlier until she told me to jump over it and then I remembered what to do – my legs didn’t know how to do it until she spoke….

Auntie Geri is very impressed with me because I have improved so much with my lunging and growling (I am a good boy now!). Today, she and Mummy were stood talking and I lay down nicely and stayed settled even when two cats started duffing each other up over the road and a dog walked by at the same time.

We had a nice long walk today. Auntie Geri was talking about being backstage at the G4 Albert hall concert and about treating her first hypnotherapy client. Mummy was glad to have company as she is a bit upset about poor Auntie (and Uncle Ricky) as they heard today that their company has definitely finished so their jobs will end soon.

Right, must throw a squeaky at my people to cheer ‘em up…

Regards

Hot Dog!

Evening all,

Auntie here! Brucie asked me to guest this evening as he is a tired boy!

It was a lovely hot day today that us humans enjoyed but Brucie wasn't so keen as he has alot of hair! We went on a walk early this morning and Bruce was lucky as he saw his friends Emily and Troy. They all had a nice run around and Bruce had fun! We ended up walking a long way as there were some poxy shooting men in the way so we had to go a long way to avoid them. After going for a swim Brucie felt a bit better but he has been tired out ever since we got home, bless him!

Well, I had better be off, its nearly tablet time.

Take care,

Auntie xx

An Ordinary Day

There’s not much to tell today – that makes a change, doesn’t it! I am feeling brighter now I don’t have quite as many yukky tablets.

Last night, I started to torment Auntie like I always do at bedtime and rotten old Mummy put my lead on and made me lie in one place and stop bugging her. Not fair.

Mummy was late home today – bus trouble again. We had a lovely walk but she was cheesed off because Mark Kermode was not on and there was hardly any time given to the film reviews on Five Live because of horse racing. We met Auntie down the road because she was out early and we went to the shop, where Mummy and I sat outside and Mummy got cross with some loud-mouthed children and glared at them a lot.

We are having a nice quiet evening and Mummy is cooking nice things.

Today’s pic shows me doing one of my favourite things – having a cuddle with my Mummy.

I hope you are all well, regards to all

Return Of The Bruce

Hello again everyone.

Well, that was very odd yesterday - I kept looking for Heidi and then Maureen said that she has gone away forever - but the odd thing is that when she asked me where Heidi was, I could see her standing nearby and I kept looking at that spot to tell Maureen and Mummy. Sometimes I see Uncle Benjamin around the house too, or over the fields - you would be surprised what us dogs are aware of!

I didn't have to have two extra horrible tablets today, just one, and so I was not feeling quite so sleepy. Mind you, I say that but when Mummy came home off the first bus and tricked me by walking down the hill instead of up, I was on the couch when she got home instead of staring out the window looking for her.

Auntie Geri came for a walk today - she sounds much more mellow now than she did a couple of weeks ago. She was telling Mummy all about her new diet and lots of other things and Mummy told her about Auntie's work and the Take That concert and about Heidi. Something is always happening so they always have stuff to talk about.

We had a very long walk right round the second wood and I am a very tired boy now. I think I might go back to sleep for a while...

regards
