About Me

My photo
I like food, walks, cuddles, more food, the seaside, other dogs, food, my frisbee and destroying things. Most of all I love My People and lots of lovely attention. Some say I'm spoiled. I say I get treated as I should be ;) I'm a healthy happy eight year old. The only thing wrong with me (God willing) is epilepsy which costs my owners lots of money and means I have to eat yukky tablets but otherwise seems to bother them more than it bothers me because they remember my fits and I don't. Other than that, I'm a happy lad and I love my people and I'm lucky to live in a place where there are nice walks. I wouldn't want to live in a town.

Falling In Love again, What Am I To Do....

I can't help it...

I met Melody today and I love her! I do! I thought I loved Emily and Juno and Heidi and Blossom but this is love, it truly is. I know a German Shepherd and a spayed Greyhound are a bit mismatched and we can never have a family but she’s so pretty…..

I walked down to Auntie Geri’s this afternoon (it was cool enough for an afternoon walk: first time in ages!) and I was surprised when she walked out with a lead and a dog and then I realised what a vision of loveliness Melody is…Melody, what a beautiful name….

We sniffed through the gate and then we walked together. She isn’t allowed off the lead but I kept her company – so much so that I got in trouble for being under Auntie Geri’s feet too much! We had a good length walk and I stuck to Melody’s side all the way around, then got all upset when she had to go home. I even chatted her up when Mummy and Auntie Geri were talking to the community police officer about the bin that appeared mysteriously opposite our house yesterday, along with Auntie Geri’s ‘Sold’ sign from outside her house – but never mind that, I got more time to be with Melody.

She’s so pretty……

Today there is a pic of me and also a pic of Melody and little mini Cooper who is Auntie Geri’s daughter Alex’s puppy. Isn’t Melody lovely? I think so…

Regards to all,

A rather besotted Brucie xxx

p.s. the picture upload won't work so I will show you my beautiful new girlfriend tomorrow....

Hi

It is still warm and sunny but not so overwhelming now and there is a lovely breeze so I am feeling happier. Unfortunately I have been a little sick over the last 24 hours but I have perked up again now – don’t know what caused it, I’m always chucking up or pooping, the vet says it’s just GSD tummy.

Poor Mummy had to clean up the puke cos I didn’t make it outside so she wasn’t happy. She recommends the empty 10 pack Coke box for this purpose – use the tear up bit as a scoop and put the solid stuff in the box. Lurvely.

We met a couple in the wood yesterday who have a German Shepherd who is aggressive. Mummy asked the man what he does if the dog gets mean and he said he smacks him. Mummy asked him how he would feel if another man socked him one when he was feeling aggressive – would he calm down or feel even angrier? I think he got the point. She gave him lots of advice about positive training methods and suggested a good behaviourist. Now I know how poor Auntie feels when Mummy and other Mummies discuss what nappies she had or when she started to walk etc – it’s embarrassing, having to sit there while she talks about that stuff….

Mummy is still a bit unwell and Auntie has been sick too but they are both getting better now. Mummy says when I was sick I was just joining in!

This week, The Mother went to hospital with nothing wrong with her again and got sent back to The Home. Judy came over after that on the same day that someone had upset Mummy at work by sticking their nose in when she was talking about The Mother. Judy went on and on about The Mother too so Mummy wasn’t in the best mood by that evening.

Today, Uncle Ricky came over and they talked about Judy and lots of other things. Uncle Ricky has got a new job, which he starts tomorrow so my people are pleased with him and they are going out for lunch next weekend to celebrate (I hope I get a good walk first!).

Well, I have to go, as we are off to the shop to find some lunch that I won’t (God willing) throw up.

Wish me luck…

Regards

Hello

It is still very very hot here and I spend my mornings sleeping on the patio or in the house and my afternoons in the shade with Mummy and then go for a walk in the evening. I haven’t seen many of my friends as we are all going at different times but I saw Juno and was too rough and tumble with her and got moaned at and I saw Buster and he told me off when I hadn’t done anything wrong and I was a good boy cos I just asked him to play and didn’t get bumptious or annoyed. My people both have funny tummies – Mummy was poorly all weekend and slept for most of it. When she was really ill, I let her sleep but now she is on the mend and comes home from work tired, I keep waking her up just as she is dropping off which I think is funny and she doesn’t.

I have a huge tennis ball in the back yard and I like to roll this across my people’s backs when they are sunbathing or make it really slobbery then roll it up their arms. Hee hee.

Mummy’s Mummy has been in hospital again – this time she was thought to be having a heart attack but it looks like it was just constipation which my Mummy said is typical. Some of the family I don’t know, plus Judy, are falling out. Mummy says she is glad we don’t see them any more ( I have never met these people) so we don’t have to get sucked into the arguments. There are no rows in our house. They are not allowed.

I have to look after Auntie and I am hoping she has the strength to taske me out so I have to go.

Regards to all my friends

Mummy needs a hug..

Hi everyone,

Auntie here! Poor Mummy has not been well this weekend, she has picked up some kind of stomach flu type bug so Bruce is busy giving her cuddles at the moment. He asked if I could pop on here for him to say hi as his priority is making Mummy feel better.

Bruce was a pickle for me the other day. As you may know Bruce is not a fan of bangs and other strange noises. I tried to take Bruce out for his walk and leave Mummy at home to rest but when Bruce heard a combine harvester in action he had other ideas! One second he was sniffing along the side of the field, next he was legging it towards home! I charged after him and found him haveing a jolly sniff outside of the school and thinking he was very clever. I soon got him back on the lead and told him off. I was so frightened when he ran! After we got home Brucie said sorry and we became friends again. Bless him, I can understand him being scared but I don't like him running away!

Anyway, I must get on, Bruce will be wanting my company soon.

Take care all,

Auntie xx

Bruce’s day in the heat (Tuesday)

Morning:

1) Take Auntie to the fields to play with my Frisbee. Drown Frisbee in ditch. Laugh at Auntie
2) Have tablets
3) Make Auntie feel bad for giving me the yukky tablets
4) Make Auntie feel bad for going upstairs to work
5) Snooze

Afternoon:

1) Cuddle Auntie when she comes downstairs
2) Go in kitchen and snooze some more, ignoring Auntie, who is keeping me company
3) Mob Mummy when she comes home
4) Ask for extra long cuddle for Mummy so she gets really hot under all my fur
5) Go outside with Mummy. Try to drink all the water she is trying to spray on me to keep me cool.
6) Snooze
7) Eat lunch
8) Snooze

Evening:

1) Still, in garden, wait until Mummy tries to snooze then mob her with my big slobbery tennis ball and my Frisbee
2) Play with my people
3) Tell my people off when they tickle each other and tell them to play with my Frisbee instead
4) Try to keep my bum away from the grooming comb (I like my mats, they’re mine). Behave rather better once a Schmacko is involved.
5) Go for walk
6) Run away and frighten mummy because I am scared of the hot air balloons that float overhead especially when they go ROOAARR!!
7) Run back to Mummy because over there is scarier because Mummy isn’t in it
8) Think about climbing into the car of two men who are lounging in a car parked on a track. Mummy puts on her ‘I have a scary dog’ voice. Walk past the car doing my ‘obedient dog’ act. Get praised.
9) Yukky tablet time again.
10) Eat supper.
11) Get told off for asking for some of Auntie’s tea and refusing to move when she tells me to and generally annoying Auntie. Have cuddle with Auntie and be friends again.
12) Bedtime

Its a hot one!

Hello everyone

It is still baking hot so I am spending much of my time lying in the shade with my Mummy and tormenting her when she tries to do her quizzes. Yesterday she bought a big water gun, which she sprays at me to keep me cool but I like to try to catch the water and drink it, which makes Mummy giggle.

Yesterday, Auntie Geri wanted me to go for a walk with her and her new dog, Melody, but we didn’t go because Mummy wanted to hear about Auntie’s trip to Northampton and because she didn’t know what time we would be going anyway.

Well, that’s all I am saying for now because…yawn…all I want to do is sleep when it’s like this……

Phew...

Hi

I am sneaking on here myself while sitting at work at coffee break in front of a fan set to ‘full’. Bruce is fine, he has been in very good form this weekend, giving us lots of cuddles and love and having a swim in the morning, a play in the evening and doing darn all in the heat of the day. It is too hot, however, to post from home so he has asked me to write you all a brief note to say that

a) hes fine
b) the new grooming comb sucks and he wishes Mummy would just let him be tangly, and
c) he wishes it would cool down and that things wouldn’t go bang (there were fireworks on Saturday night and people were shooting last night)

regards

sneak sneak

I am sneaking on here while Mummy is at work to tell you that we also weren’t writing for a while because my people had family problems – my Mummy’s Mummy was sick and Judy was making life extra complicated (as always) so when Mummy had time to relax, she wanted to cuddle me and play with me rather than help me to write this blog.

Mummy’s Mummy has something called cerebral atrophy and her symptoms have got worse (Mummy says) and Judy finds it hard to accept that and keeps thinking that Mummy’s Mummy is having a stroke/kidney failure etc etc and taking her to hospital and frightening the family when really she is just deteriorating which is something that happens when you are old and sick…

Also, in the hot weather I wait until the evening for my walk and then I jump in the ponds and the pit and then Mummy can’t groom me and my fur got a bit tangly so Mummy and Auntie have been spending long sessions grooming me with a new special comb that takes out the tangles kindly and also as it has been grass seed season and I like to romp in the long grass, they have spent ages every day going over me and picking out seeds from my fur and from between my toes – Mummy calls it the hobby that never ends. I am a good boy and I lie quietly and only get irritated occasionally if a seed hurts me or a tangle pulls a bit and then I just glare at them or bash them with my nose or very gently take their hand in my mouth and remove it and place it elsewhere so I am a good boy really.

So all in all, my people have been too busy to keep doing my blog as well as too hot but we are going to try harder from now on, honest, as we have missed speaking to you.

Speak to you soon

Go Roger!

Hi everyone

I hope that you have not been worried about me, I am absolutely fine, it has just been soooo hot…..

Mummy and I have spent much of the last fortnight out in the garden lying in the shade with Wimbledon on the radio. Today, I got to go on a lovely walk with her and Auntie before they settled down to watch Roger Federer play Rafael Nadal in the final. They were very cross when Judy turned up unannounced. Auntie took me for a short walk with Judy and then Judy went away and my people were able to watch the rest of the match in peace. Now Auntie is watching the world cup while me and Mummy do this.

Two weeks ago, Mike the vet said that I could stop taking the extra tablet that was making me feel so funny and now I am back to my old self again,. This week I have chased the cats at the end of our row several times and on two occasions, I bust through their hedge and went into Sue’s garden and Mummy was cross with me. Tee hee. Today I proved that I can climb out of a ditch perfectly well again so my people were relieved about that. And so far (God willing) I haven’t fitted either so that is good.

Mummy tells me that Auntie Geri has a new dog, but I haven't met her yet. She is a rescue Greyhound so Mummy says I must be gentle with her or I will break her...

Last week, I met Emily and Troy over the fields and I had words with Troy and he had words with me so Mummy and Auntie Raye began to think that we would never get on, especially because the cheeky git bit my tail!! The other day though, we met again and I had a word in his shell-like (know what I mean, I am an Essex boy after all!) and he was forced to admit that I am older and harder than him so he showed me his tummy. Let’s just say that our relationship is 'work in progress' but there is hope so long as he knows I’m top dog (Well I am top dog except for Emily, who beats us both up if our language gets too strong!! And except for Mummy, who puts me on the lead and tells me to leave him and walks me away if I like it or not if I try to ignore her. Women!)

Tomorrow, I have a possible date with Emily so I am very excited. I love Emily.

Well, I hope this finds you all ok, and now the weather is a bit cooler and if me and Mummy can suss out that laptop thing, we will try to write more regularly from now on.

Today’s pic shows me just after a dip on a hot day – not quite as wet as the day me and Mummy got caught in a downpour and her t-shirt went see-through and a bus driver went past us and pointed at her and went "OOOOOO!!!", but it’s still a nice picture Mummy says, and she says NO, there are no piccies of her in the wet t-shirt!!!

Regards to all my friends

Hot hot hot

Bruce asked me to tell you all that as we have been having a mini heatwave he has been sleeping all day and exercising at night so he has not got to the computer. Also his auntie has been working upstairs so the room has been like a furnace! However we now have a new laptop so once Bruce and I have worked out how to use it, Bruce will start to post again more regularly.

Meanwhile he sends his regards and hopes you are all well.
