About Me

My photo
I like food, walks, cuddles, more food, the seaside, other dogs, food, my frisbee and destroying things. Most of all I love My People and lots of lovely attention. Some say I'm spoiled. I say I get treated as I should be ;) I'm a healthy happy eight year old. The only thing wrong with me (God willing) is epilepsy which costs my owners lots of money and means I have to eat yukky tablets but otherwise seems to bother them more than it bothers me because they remember my fits and I don't. Other than that, I'm a happy lad and I love my people and I'm lucky to live in a place where there are nice walks. I wouldn't want to live in a town.

Boooring

I still have a sore leg. Mummy is making me do steady walks and not see my friends or play boisterous games in the evening (and I love my evening play) so that I will be better for my holiday on Saturday - which is all well and good but I am boooooooored!

Poor me.

Got Another Sooore leg

I don't know what I have done, I have hurt my other foreleg now and it huuurts and Mummy made me have two tiny tiny walks even when I pretended I needed to go so I could get over there again - not fair!

Judy was over today but she was ok and now her birds have come to stay.

I saw Blossom and told her about my soore leg.

Auntie has gone out for the night so me and Mummy are chillin' to the max, man.....

I'd Sure Like To Teach You A Lesson

I protest! I would like to make it known that my Mummy is MY Mummy and I don’t like sharing her!

Yesterday, Melody came on our walk. Auntie Geri was out for the day and Mummy had offered to take her with us. She didn’t consult me – harrumph! When we headed down the hill to Geri’s, I was very happy but my happiness turned to confusion when I realised that Auntie Geri was not at home. Melody danced all over the place when we went in (after Mummy called out to warn Cleo the cat that we were coming in). Eventually, Mummy got her to stand still long enough to get her collar on (by giving her some of MY Schmacko!!!) and we set off. I had to walk on one side of Mummy (the wrong side – which is the right) with Melody on MY side, which I didn’t think much of. Once we got over the fields, Mummy let me off the lead but she kept hold of Melody. Mel was really annoying her because she kept pushing against her leg or walking bang in front of her (she hates that) so she kept trying to tell Mel where she should be so I didn’t get much attention. It’s not Mummy’s fault, she did try and she gave me extra cuddles (she said my cuddles were the best) and she even gave me some of Mel’s kibble (which I ate – I normally refuse it when Auntie Geri gives it to me) to make up for giving Mel my Schmacko (I sniffed at her mouth angrily every time she got some). Mummy thought it was funny because when she asked Mel to sit for kibble, Mel said “Greyhounds don’t sit” but when she offered her Schmacko, she couldn’t sit fast enough!

Towards the end of the walk, Mel really shouted at Leo the Pointer while Oscar Pointer and I were talking nicely and playing ‘let’s pretend to stalk each other’ and then Mel went mad at a bunny and nearly pulled Mummy off her feet. She is amazingly strong for a bony dog! I was pretty fed up by now with her getting so much attention so I was happy to leave her at her house and go home and I barely left Mummy’s side for the whole evening.

Today I was left alone for a long time as Auntie had her last trip to Northampton (that job has ended now) and I decided to punish Mummy for yesterday. First I jumped in a muddy smelly ditch and shook myself all over her, then I ignored her when she called me, got buddies all in my fur on purpose and mumbled at her when she held my collar when a new dog passed by. I finished the walk by jumping back in the stinky ditch and getting filthy and smelly and then jumping on the couch TWICE – once at either end. Tee hee.

Now I have had lots of attention and cuddled Mummy for a long, long time, I am feeling better and I might think about being a good boy again. Mummy called me a rude name earlier so I think I have pushed my luck!

Tee hee.

My Mummy is home for two weeks now and we are going on holiday next week.

Hooray!

Turducken!

I have been a bit of a poorly boy over the last few days but not really sick like poor Melody was:

Mummy is mailing Auntie Geri to see how Mel is doing. I have been sick a few times so I had to eat boring bland food and I have been lame so I only had short walks. Today, I am a bit better so we had a more normal walk but Mummy didn’t want me to run about.

Auntie is finishing her job with the Northampton people this week and will start her new job properly in September – she is doing some mornings and afternoons for them in the meantime. I don’t like it when she goes out to work, but as long as Mummy sticks to her routine, I suppose I can put up with he change…

Mummy is getting better from her chest infection but her tablets put her off her food and make her feel sick (see, I’m not the only one whose tablets make them sick!!). Mummy says she is pleased because she has lost a few pounds but I like her soft and comfy and cuddly…

Mummy has run out of money but the dog food people at http://www.csjk9.com/ have been really nice to her so she is grateful – I had a brand new sack of Turducken opened today and showed my gratitude by leaving some of it – I didn’t want to, I just don’t have my full appetite at the moment. I like to keep my people on their toes anyway…

Poor Brucie, Seeing Pals, and Poor Mel

Bruce isn’t feeling so good today so I am writing this for him. He has had an enjoyable few days but a couple of ailments have marred things.

He walked with Melody again on Friday and had lots of fun – Melody only briefly disappeared this time and I held Bruce’s collar so he couldn’t tell her off too much. The rest of the walk passed peacefully, then Bruce spent some time round Auntie Geri’s (thanks, Geri!) with Melody while I went to the doctor (I am unwell – I have a chest infection). Bruce behaved himself round there (cat Cleo wasn't happy to see him though and if looks could kill, Bruce wouldn't be here to speak to you ever again!). He was a good boy in the evening too, while Auntie and I watched the Big Brother final.

Unfortunately, on his way out for his last wee (or possibly before that, when he saw off a cat who thought it was going to go to the toilet in our yard while staring in our window – Bruce chased it off but his brakes failed and he skidded into the front gate), Bruce sprained his foreleg so he now has a sore leg and is feeling sorry for himself.

Yesterday, we tried a walk but Bruce was limping a lot and it poured with rain and we got soaked and it thundered which scares Bruce so all told, we gave up and went home. Later, my sister Judy came round for her birthday and even though she was rude to us and annoyed us a lot (as usual), Bruce seemed to enjoy her company- he is much more forgiving than his Mummy! Bruce was sick in the evening so he couldn’t have any supper so what with the sore foot and the puking, he was feeling sorry for himself and needed lots of cuddles.

Today, we decided to take him for a steady plod as his leg seemed a bit better but then we met Emily and Troy. Auntie Raye let them both off the lead and today was their best walk together so far – Troy now accepts Bruce as dominant to him and so now they can play without getting bad-tempered. There are lots of growls and slobbers and teeth baring which would look terrible to some people but it is just noisy play with no nastiness involved, which is a relief as I began to think the boys would never get along. I allow it so long as Bruce is polite to other dogs - it is permitted play only, and stops when I say so...

Later, Bruce's Uncle Rick, my brother, came round. Bruce loves Rick and plays with him and sits with him and tries to tell him how awful it is for him having to live with women.

Auntie Geri called me up to say that poor Melody has tonsillitis and is feeling horrible. She says puking can be a sign of tonsillitis in dogs, Bruce seems ok but he is a bit listless today and panting more than usual. I would expect him to be all silly after two days of short walks, but if anything, he is more sleepy than usual. We will keep an eye on him.

Bruce sends his regards to all his friends and says he will write again when he feels better.

Poor Brucie. He’s got a sore leg…..

Still, he has something to look forward to because we have booked a holiday at a place on the coast that Bruce loves going to...he will have to save up a week's worth of stories to tell you when we come back, but that's not for a couple of weeks yet.

Naughty Mel Then Poor Mel

I forgot to tell you about the funny thing that happened on Sunday. We were going across a bridge and I was really happy because there was some water in the ditch (it had dried up) so I could paddle and wipe mud on Mummy’s legs as she climbed on the style….anyway, just as she stepped onto the bridge, Mummy gasped and whirled round, clutching the rail with one hand and her chest with the other, and then she burst out laughing. Floating in the water was what looked like a human hand reaching up towards us – Mummy has always thought that one day she will find a body (once she was so convinced that a tarpaulin in a ditch was a body that she called the police, and even the policeman thought it was a body at first, but it turned out to be just a tarpaulin with nothing in it). Well, this time she thought for a horrible second that this bloated grey-ish white thing was a real, dead hand – but it wasn’t, it was a surgical glove filled with water. Auntie fished it out in case it frightened anybody else while poor Mummy tried to recover!

Today, Mummy had done some good things at work so, even though she is still feeling poorly, she came home in a happy mood. Auntie Geri and Melody came round for us, and then we went for a walk. Melody charged off in the wrong direction once so I told her off, but then she charged off again in the wood and we couldn’t find her. Eventually, Mummy and Auntie Geri decided that Geri would turn for home and Mummy would continue on the walk so that hopefully, one would meet Mel, and then Mummy had barely walked six feet away from Geri when Mel appeared in front of her. I told her off big time, but she still wasn’t caught, then when Auntie Geri fell behind, Mel decided she had had enough of running around and let Mummy catch her. She had several cuts on her legs and Auntie Geri said she can’t keep going off the lead if she’s going to do that. I am glad that I have thick fur so protect me from the thorns.

Further on, Mel kept going spare at the bunnies and we had to keep stopping so that Auntie Geri could try to teach her not to go nuts at bunnies. I get fed up if we keep having to stop and if my friends do stuff wrong so I fetched a stick for Mel and gave it to her to try to distract her, then when that didn't work I gave it to Geri to see if it would help and Geri gave me a cuddle.

I like cuddles...

I think Auntie may be getting Mummy’s lurg cos she is sleepy this evening.

Angie has spoken to Auntie but still not to Mummy, by the way...

Yesterday

Yesterday, Auntie came on our main walk and we went a long way, almost to the town. I kept asking to go further because I was enjoying myself so much. The farmer is leaving it longer this year than usual before he ploughs the fields so they are all cut and we are naughty because we walk in them – there are no crops to trample! We all enjoyed our walk and were tired afterwards.

In the evening, Mummy took me out to play Frisbee – Auntie stayed at home because she hurt her ankle earlier in the day. I played for a while but then I got tired and didn’t want to do it anymore so I caught it mid throw and walked off with it, which made Mummy laugh.

Still no progress with Angie – it rained all weekend so the barbecue didn’t happen. It is raining even harder today so Auntie and I abandoned our Frisbee game and went home.

Mummy isn’t feeling well today but she has gone to work. I will make her feel better by throwing my ball at her later or perhaps I will drool on my new blue squeaky cattos and rub that all over her arm…

Regards to all my friends

All Quiet On The Western Front

Mummy is tired this weekend, but we just had a nice long walk anyway - she is good to me that way. It is cool for August and very very windy and walking was quite hard work today. It has rained, and the bean fields, where they have been cut, have gone all smelly, but it was nice for it to be so cool that I felt like playing . Mummy has been throwing things for me to chase and we had fun.

Yesterday, we had a walk with Auntie Geri and Melody - I still fancy her, you know! She's lush! She went off the lead for some of the walk and she went a bit too far away and I was worried so I told her off when she came back but she doesn't care, she is Little Miss Confident these days. Even Auntie Geri looked worried for a second there, when Melody was heading away from us, and was half a field away! She came back though.

Auntie Geri wanted us to pose for photographs but Melody kept arguing with her because she didn't want to have to lie down. I lay down good as gold but I didn't like her standing over me so I got up again. In the end, I got bored of being asked to pose and woofed at Auntie Geri and gave her a kiss so she knew that I was over it, luvvy...

There's still no progress with the Angie issue - she tried to talk to my Mummy when she was leaving for work and she apologised to her but poor Mummy was trying to get to work and didn't have time to stop and talk about things (she hates 'talks' anyway) or to listen to an apology as she had a bus to catch. It reminded her of when she used to live with The Mother which Mummy says makes her blood run cold....

It is cold and windy and rainy today. Mummy and Auntie have been sniggering because Angie is supposed to be having a barbecue and karaoke party. That isn't very nice of them is it??!!

My people think I will be ok when Auntie starts her new job and I will cope best if nobody checks on me and disturbs me. Auntie is trying to organise hours that mean I can have my tablets at my usual time and a proper morning walk. If she does that, I can go to kip quite happily. Waiting till Mummy comes home sucks, as I got used to Auntie being here at lunchtime, but I have to do it on Northampton days and I just beat Mummy up when she does come home and then we have a big, big cuddle and a walk. It'll be ok.

Hope you are all well,

regards

Trouble At Mill

My poor Mummy. We had a really lovely walk last night. When we set off, I was a bit moody with her because neither of my girlfriends were there, but than I started to really enjoy myself, ambling here and there and having a sniff and the occasional game of ‘Give me that tail!’, which I enjoy. At this time of year, when the fields are cut, there is much more of a variety of places to walk because we are not harming the crops if we go across the fields and it was a beautiful evening with wide open spaces and fresh air and Mummy was really happy…and then we went home.

We went round the back because Auntie was in the bath and Angie was sitting out. She started moaning at Mummy that she shouldn’t have to move away from the door if she wants to smoke – though I remember her saying to Mummy that, because of Mummy's asthma, she would happily sit on her sun chair further down the garden – Mummy never asked her, she offered. Also she was saying that she feels piggy in the middle between Mummy and her other neighbour who has been neglecting her dog. On Sunday, when Mummy and Auntie were eating lunch, Angie called them out of the house because she wanted to talk about Alfie the dog's welfare because she was worried. Mummy said that if she was that worried, she should speak to the lady so how was that Mummy putting Angie in the middle? I don’t understand.

Mummy got all upset then Auntie took me indoors while they carried on talking then Mummy said she wasn’t going to deal with any more of it, she had things to do, and came in and then her and Auntie talked about it all for ages and ages because Auntie was FURIOUS and it was all really boring and I feel sorry for my Mummy because the nasty lady upset her.

We had a nice cuddle this morning though so hopefully that made her feel better. Auntie is worried about taking her new job now but Mummy says I might be ok while they are gone and if not then another neighbour might pop in on me if they pay her.

Hopefully, today’s picture will work – it is from Mummy’s mobile so the quality isn’t good but it shows me in the cut corn.

Regards to all my friends

In Love With Two

Look at my Emily...

Now, can you see why I have a problem? She's pretty isn't she?! But so is Melody. I walked with Auntie Raye and Emily today - when Mummy said they were coming to pick us up, I went mad, howling with excitement and running from window to door, I was so excited. Emily didn't want to run around with me as she has hurt her leg and she was worried about Troy and couldn't understand why he wasn't with us but it was lovely to be with her again and we had a lovely walk. Auntie Raye told Mummy all about a bust up she has had with her friend and they talked about Big Brother while Emily and I walked along together and sniffed lots of things.

Yesterday was funny. When Raye and Emily and Troy stopped outside my gate for a chat, Troy kept barking at me and I rrred at him so much that Mummy made me go inside cos I wasn't doing as I was told (boooo). Just after she let me out again, Mandy, two gardens down, was just opening the gate and coming in with Blossom, who she was looking after. Mummy let me go and see her but I played a trick on her and squeezed through the gate and ran down the road after my friends, who had gone about 10 yards up the hill. Troy went very quiet all of a sudden when he saw that I was off the lead. Mummy ran after me and made me come to her and held my collar, and the second that he knew she had got me, Troy got all 'Big I Am' again and started woofing. Mummy and Auntie Raye laughed at him because he is only brave when he knows I can't tell him off!

But I still got very told off for being so naughty. I didn't like that....but I expect I deserved it.....

Torn Between Two Lovers, Feeling Like A Fool...

You know I said I am in love with Melody...well I am...it's just that I saw Emily today and I think she knows I have been walking with another lady dog and I think she is is cross with me.

Trouble is, I still have feelings for her too.....

But Melody is so gorgeous...what is a man to do? Mummy says as it's all kept platonic, why can't they both be my girlfriends? I don't think Melody would mind but I think Emily would as she really told me off today.

Mummy is in demand, with both Aunties Raye and Geri wanting to come on our walks...Auntie Geri is very accommodating about fitting in whenever and Auntie Raye doesn't often turn out in the afternoon, but she has promised a walk tomorrow with just Emily so Mummy will mail Auntie Geri and hope she doesn't mind if she goes with Raye tomorrow and we see her and Melody another day...we are popular!!! That is nice....

We have been watching Britain's Best Dog again - Auntie always gets really mad with the programme but she tried not to say anything today because Mummy made fun of her for chuntering so much. Mummy always gets me to show off my 'doggy dancing' moves after the programme which is great fun and gets me lots of attention and goodies so I don't mind.

Here is a picture of the fields - it's all golden and lovely this time of year and the farmer is busy gathering in the crops...which is much nicer than when he is spraying them and we have to avoid the fumes...

all the best

So In Love With You-oooo

Hello

I have had two more walks with my new girlfriend and have told Oscar and Leo the Pointers that she is mine - we were all very polite but I had a word in their shell-likes (Essex Boooooy!) and when Melody flirted with them, she apologised to me by giving me a little kissy (which I quite liked actually) so it was all ok.

Auntie Geri let Melody try being off-lead twice and she charged around, then came back to us - boy, can she move fast. All her beautiful muscles are on display beneath that golden coat and she looks so slim and elegant.....swoon.....

Yesterday, me and Mummy went on our own and it was nice to have her to myself. Auntie went out in the evening so I sulked and now she might be getting a new job in Chelmsford which is brilliant for her and we are very proud that she has been head-hunted but it also sucks because I like her being at home....

That's all for now

Mummy will post a pic for me later cos she is at work
